Resolved Question: How to forgive my father who was very abusive to me as a child?

My father was very physically abusive to me as a child. He would hit me with things like 2x4's, tennis rackets, and the metal buckle of his belt for things like not finishing my oatmeal (I was a very sickly child, I could not usually keep food down and eating made me vomit), or painting my finger nails. I would be covered in bruises all the way from my scalp down to my ankles. He was also verbally abusive, and sexually abusive. The only halloween costume he would buy me at 11 years old was the french maid costume. He said it was because of the price. It was a $40 costume, when the vampire one I wanted was cheaper...When I cut my toe off at the beach at 12 years old, he didn't want to take me to the E.R. so he bought a butterfly bandage...I was not the only one to experience this, my twin sister also experienced this, as did my older sister. He also choked me out once. He would sedate me at night with 4 tylenol PM's at age 11. Anyway, I found out that he was also abusive to my mother. She would stand by and watch and sometimes participate in the physical abuse out of fear of him. I found out years after they divorced that he was addicted to drugs during that time of my life (although he refused to say which drug). He has since moved on, and I have not seen or spoke to him since I was 14. I am now 21. He tries to contact me on facebook, and his new Russian bride guilt trips me for not having contact with him. My guess is she doesn't know what kind of man he really is. I do have fond memories of him when I was young though...I was once very close to him. Out of nowhere though he turned into a monster. He is getting older, and I wonder if I will regret cutting ties with him when he dies. I know that the abuse that my twin and I endured at the hands of both of our parents has psychologically scarred us for life. I envy the normal relationships people have with their parents. Should I forgive my father? If so, how? He claims he is a different person now, but how does someone like that really change? @Lisa- my parents covered my bruises with makeup, turtle neck sweaters and jeans. Even in the Florida summer heat. They told me if I told the teachers what happened, I would be separated from my sisters and go to a foster home. So I kept it to myself. of course my teachers noticed. But I would blame it on something else. As far as the sexual abuse goes, my older sister told her teacher. The police then came to my school and questioned me and my twin sister. We told the police about it, and my father when to jail for a week or so. But because it is such a hard thing to prove, most fathers don't get convicted of it. Only a percentage actually get a conviction. All we could get was a restraining order.

Resolved Question: Xbox 360's KINECT - Worth it?

Hellooo! My friend recently bought PlayStation Move (for only £30) and I really enjoyed some of the games he has. I prefer the ones like a particular sports one with archery/table tennis/volley ball/gladiator fighting, as they still try to be realistic with the graphics, I'v been on a Wii for a bit but i found the games too gimmicky ish, and got pretty bored when each little mini game had been played for a small amount of time. I'm also concerned about the fact that it is purely motion sensor, as with many games, you're character is likely to have something to hold e.g tennis racket, sword, gun... playing tennis without holding something would feel pretty lame in comparison? Are the games seriously limited to what they can do because of the fact you can only use your body? Would it be worth buying the Kinect? Does the motion sensor properly work? How cheap (and where) could I possibly get it? Are there plans to release more/better games for it? Or is it all just a bit lame? Because I liked the idea of exercising whilst playing. :/ Thanks in advance! :)

Resolved Question: Recommendations for source for Wii racket, bat, etc.?

I would like to get a baseball bat, tennis racket, steering wheel, and even a light saber accessory for the wii. Now I've seen them on amazon (third-party) as a bundle for 15 bucks, but then reviews said that the items were cheap and broke after a very short time. I'd like to save some money here, but don't want junk. What is a company that makes good-quality remote accessories? My local gamestop said they don't carry the bundles anymore....

Resolved Question: Can someone recommend me a good and cheap tennis racket?

I'm a good tennis player. I've been playing for 6 years and I know to hit every type of ball. I need a racket to help me in power or a balanced racket because my control is not that bad. And I prefer that the racket be from the following brands: Prince or Wilson or Babolat or Head cause these are the only brands I can find in my town. I want the rocket's price no more than 135 dollars thanks

Resolved Question: Is tennis-seller.com legit?

I was trying to get a new racket for a kind of cheap price, when I ran into this website. The prices are unbelievably low, so I was just wondering if this website was legit, or fake. I bought a Babolat AeroPro Drive that unfortunately turned out to be fake, so I was pretty unhappy. After looking at the same one on this website, It actually looked like the real one. I don't want to be scammed again...

Resolved Question: What should I do with this stray kitty? Please help, I have no idea what to do! =(?

There has been a stray kitty that has been coming around my porch for the past few weeks. After a few days of coming around, she decided that she would like to live on my porch. I can tell that she doesn't belong to anyone, because she is really tiny and skittish. I have been feeding her and giving her water, ect. At first I was just going to let her live out there, because I am in college and don't have much extra $ coming in right now to have vet bills, ect. However, there is another stray male cat that has started coming around my house, but he picks on the kitten. He will go up to her while she is sleeping and attack her for no reason at all. The other night we spent almost 4 hours shooing the older male cat away from the kitten with a tennis racket. I have called all of the no-kill shelters in my area, and they all claim that they are full. I decided that I would take in the poor little kitty after seeing how the orange cat treats her. I spent almost 5 hours lastnight trying to get her into the kitty cage that I bought. I had already made the apt. with the vet, went out and bought a litter box, litter, everything! But she wanted nothing to do with it. She has warmed up to us a lot more than when she started coming around. But petting her is still sometimes an issue, and we can by no means pick her up. I have been told to get a trap that will just shut right when she goes into it, but idk how that will do me any good. Even if she does go into the trap, I still can't pick her up, rub her, ect, so it seems like it would be stupid to trap her in one of those and then not be able to have her as a pet because she is still afraid of us. Do you have any suggestions as to how we can get her to warm up to us more so that we can put her into the cage ourselves and bring her to the vet? She really doesn't leave our porch unless it's if she is running away and hiding from the other cat that tries to attack her. I am just bummed because I know that she has lived outside her whole life, and I feel awful and I want to giver her a home. I have already convinced myself that I am willing to spend the $ on her, (shots, spaying, treatments), which obviously will not be cheap, but it's something that I feel like I should do because I feel so bad. :( We've put wet food, dry food, treats, everything we could think of inside the carrying cage and nothing worked. Do you think that if she has indeed lived outside her entire life, that she will warm up to us over time and let us pick her up and care for her? I refuse to call animal control or the humane society, because I would not die if I found out that they took her and euthanized her. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. & I don't want to find someone else to adopt her, because adopting her isn't the issue. I have fallen in love with the little cat and she's only been here a few weeks! Any ideas would be extremely appreciated. Thank you so much.

Resolved Question: Is this site reliable?

They are selling this racket really cheap and the site doesnt look too professional. Has anyone ordered from the site before? http://www.tennisshow.net/Wilson/wilson-k-six-one-95-16-18-tennis-racquet-grip-4-3-8_562.htm Yeah i fear it might be risky to buy from that site. I guess i'll just have to buy from tenniswarehouse.com. No where else seems to sell this racket now. If anyone know a UK or Europe site that sells Wilson Kfactor KSixone 95 (16x18) please let me know.

Resolved Question: Price-point tennis rackets?

I posted a question a few days ago about a Wilson BLX Fierce (FX), but nobody knew anything about it. SInce then, I have heard of something called a 'price-point' racket, which I believe the Fierce BLX may be. Other examples probably include things like Head raptor, some Prince EXO3 hybrids and Babolat E-sense/XS/Pulsion. I am worried that these rackets may not be what they claim to be. There must be some reason why the price is lower (although in some cases not by much!), is this because the material is cheaper (e.g. Graphite composite or even aluminium) when it claims to be full graphite, does not play well etc.? Basically any views on this matter are welcome. I am on a budget and cannot dish out £100+ for a proper pro racket. Hence I need to know as much as possible about the rackets that ARE in my price range. Cheers

Resolved Question: Where can I play tennis and rent tennis rackets?

Resolved Question: Is the Wilson N6 Hybrid a good tennis racket?

I just started my 2nd year in tennis. And my most concern is power and stability. My Prince Fuse TI, shakes way too much, my fingers are starting to get dry, and losing their outer skin. So, comparing that, does this racket have exceptional all-around capabilities? I like the spec, it's light. And it claims to have power, control, and stability. It's also fairly cheap. I am a baseline player, I like to TRY and add topspin, but I need work on it. So might as well have power to back it up. I have a two-handed backhand. I hardly go up to the net or slice. I slice almost never since I cannot do it correctly, and I only go up to the net for an overhead slam if nothing else. So yeah, info about it would be appreciated. Also how big is the sweetspot? Thanks.

Resolved Question: should i get the wilson six one tour 90?

i am 15 years old and starting to play tennis. I am going to start with a cheap racket i have, it has a 102sq head which i find way too big and too light, then move to the wilson after a week or 2. I am quite strong and have good hand eye coordination and timing from cricket. I want to have an all court game with quite flat powerful shots and dont know about a 1 or 2 hand backhand. so should i get the wilson six one tour 90?

Resolved Question: What is the significance of gifts in Star Trek?

I just watched a show of Star Trek TNG where Dr. Crusher gave Guinan a tennis racket. It got me thinking, what would be the significance of gifts in a world where there is no money and everyone can get whatever they want from replicators. Getting that expensive looking top of the line racket would be akin to getting her a cheap racket that would give Guinan Tennis elbow. If such a racket existed, wouldn't Guinan had gotten it for herself long ago? Also, why do people work in StarFleet if they don't make money from it? And it's dangerous and people die all the time? What benefit do they receive?

Resolved Question: Wilson BLX Sting tennis racket?

I'm curious about the racket called Wilson BLX Sting in JJB. As JJB is a renouned retailer they are unlikely to produce fake rackets, but it seems strange that most of their advanced rackets are common high-end rackets that can be found elsewhere, but this BLX Sting racket does not seem to exist elsewhere. However it does look exactly the same as the Wilson BLX Pro Open, like a rebranded version of the pro open. Then again, the specifications are different (pro open 100 sq inch head size, sting 105) so this doesnt seem to be the case. I am confused here, the BLX Sting seems like a fake copy of the Pro open but it is being sold by a shop with reputation so any ideas on what is going on here? btw, I have seen this racket on eBay for a cheap price. I know the dangers of buying rackets on eBay so would like to know as much as possible about this racket before bidding. Thanks. RE Richard E Marks: cheers. the thing is it is not a current racket anywhere in the world except JJB, and it does seem strange for Wilson to release a racket looking exactly the same as one of their existing rackets (blx pro open). maybe you are right about it being specifically made for JJB, do you know if that happens often? And does that in any way affect the quality of the racket?

Resolved Question: Any one know how much in Hong Kong?

Hey does anyone know how much tennis rackets are in Hong Kong? Tennis rackets are usually around 20-30 percent more expensive in to buy in UK than US. Im guessing its the distribution and sky high tax rates in UK. I'll be going to Hong Kong soon, as i recall, the things there are usually slightly cheaper because they have low tax and its massive market over there. Most things are produced in China so distribution are prolly cheaper than other places. Plus for £10, i get 130 HK dollars. Does any1 know how much a typical racket like Wilson BLX six one tour and HEAD youtek Radical/Extreme costs there? Does any one know any retailer or website who sell tennis rackets in HK?

Resolved Question: Tennis Rackets Suggestions?

Hi, I'm looking at getting a new tennis racket to replace my current one, but I don't live near anywhere I can demo rackets so was hoping to get some advice on here. My main complaint with my current Dunlop racket is that I never feel like I'm fully in control of the ball when I hit it, like the strings are too tight and the ball bounces off the racket too much without input from myself. I've tried getting used to it but I just can't seem to do it. I much prefer a racket where I give more input and control as I am an accuracy and spin based player. I also prefer the racket to be head light, and for the head size not to be too big or too small, so probably between 98-105 sq. inches. And finally I don't really want to spend more than £80, and less would be preferable, but at the same time I don't want to be buying a cheap racket that won't last long. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Resolved Question: I'm getting a cheap racket!?

Unfortunately not all of us are rich, and in my local park it has about 15 tennis courts and they're taken pretty much all day, since the hot weather here in the UK is brilliant, I was thinking of Getting 2 Tennis rackets and a pack of tennis balls to play with my family... So THey're about £13 which isn't expensive at all... But unforunately thats all i can afford...So 2 of them is 26 pound... Will they break easily?... and can do i have to play soflty with them? (As in i shouldnt hit it hard but more or less tap it over the net and hit it fairly soft from the back...? Please help because i don't want to keep spending £13 on tennis rackets....

Resolved Question: Is the standard string they use to restring tennis rackets at racket shops good enough quality?

I took my racket to racketman in des peres for a restring today. I play recreationally once or twice a week so I'm only an average player. I just want to be sure that the string they used (probably from a bulk reel) is good enough quality, doesn't have to be anything special of course. I only told them what tension I wanted and forgot to ask about the actual type of strings. The string I had before were just standard, decent enough strings for the average recreational player I think. Would the ones they have put in be of similar quality, at least average? The restring was only $24 so I just want to be sure I wasn't stuck with cheap, low-quality strings making my play suffer.

Resolved Question: Djokovic tennis bag for female tennis player?? Tacky?

I am going to be a senior in high school this upcoming school year. It will be my fifth year playing tennis; I've played on the varsity squad at school all of my years of high school. I have always played with Head tennis rackets and am looking to get a bag, since I want to be able to bring a back up racket when I go to tournaments. My school colors are red, black, and white, so I'm not a big fan of Head's bags for women. Would it be weird or tacky for me--a girl--to buy Djokovic's bag or the black and white ATP Series? They're closest to my school colors, but they're for males. Would there be room in them for school books, too? Tennis bags aren't cheap; I want to make sure my investment is worth it. Thanks!

Resolved Question: expensive vs inexpensive tennis racket problems?!?!?

ok well last year was my first year of tennis so bought some roger federer racket for like 20 bucks at walmart and this year i wanted to step it up so i bought a babolat pure drive with rpm strings or something like that, but the thing is, is that i can hit way better with my older racket than my newer one, the cheap ones strings are really loose and the expensive is like 60lbs i think, is this just because of the strings or what?

Resolved Question: Have I bought a tennis racket that is too good for me?

I've just started playing tennis socially, not had any lessons but decided to buy my own racket. I'm quite strong and using my friends rackets had a tendency to overhit the ball in the court so thought I should go for a heavier one with a small head. There was a really good deal on a racket that seemed to fit the bill, a Prince Exo 3 Graphite 93, down from 200 to £45. Problem is, having played with it, kind of seems bit too advanced for me, as the reviews online suggest. It seems you need to hit the ball just right at the right point on the racket and I'm still overhitting. Should I have gone for a cheaper/more powerful racket? Cheers.

Resolved Question: Which tennis racquet for beginner?

I've been taking tennis lessons for a month now, and I would like to buy a relatively cheap but decent racquet. I've done my research in the internet, I've read tons of articles and discussions but still I can't decide! So far I know that I don't need a powerful racquet since I generate a lot of power on my own - what I do need is control and a forgiving racquet. I was thinking of buying this Babolat: http://www.tennisnuts.com/shop/tennis/tennis-rackets/babolat/sale-under60/babolat-contact-team-tennis-racket-860067.html or this Head: http://www.head.com/tennis/products/racquets/team-series/nano-tilite-yellow/2597/?region=eu Does any of you have other suggestions? Please help as I'm getting more and more confused.

Resolved Question: Help, buying a new tennis racket?

Hi everyone I’m 15 years old, a guy, and 135 pounds and I play tennis for my high school team. I’m about a 3.0 – 3.5 rating; I’m not too advanced. I’ve had a cheap Wilson racket for a while and I’ve been searching for a new one, but I’m not really sure what to look for. I know I want the head size to be around 105-115 and I would like the racket to be fairly light and easy to maneuver. Also under $100. My old racket is for beginners so it supplies a lot of power, and in order to hit the ball correctly I have to slow down my swings. I’m not a strong individual but I still find myself to be aggressive when I play sometimes, so I would like the racket with less power to enable me to swing quickly and aggressively at the ball. I would also like the racket to give a very good amount of control and accuracy, because that is something I lack. These are some I had in mind: Wison K FOUR FX Head Liquidmetal 8 Head Liquidmetal 4 Head Metallix 4 Wilson K Court Head Microgel Raptor OS By the way, I have to way to demo rackets. I have no clubs around me and the online demos do not have these rackets. Which would be the best? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Voting Question: I feel bad for this kid that didn't make the team?

I decided to try out for tennis my senior year last fall. I practiced by myself and stunk it up at the tryout. The coaches try to keep as many people as possible. Now there's this one kid, a senior as well. He's from another country, speaks some English (just slow, but fluent) and Spanish, lives in a small apartment with his mom, a quiet kid with not many friends. He was new to the school this year He had never played tennis before the tryout (first ball he hit went over the fence). I tried to help him along......he had a new racket, which was the cheapest one. So he wasn't that good. Anyway, he did not make the team. I think he was one of the only ones cut. I felt so bad, because he doesn't have many friends and this would be a good opportunity for him. I felt guilty because I got a good racket for Christmas and he just had a cheap $30 racket (mine was $60). Now he'll never use the racket much. Since he doesn't have many friends, I do talk to him and say hi to him, though I don't see him much through the day (he sat alone at lunch.....when I realized this, I invited him to our table and he eats there now). But I just feel so bad because he didn't amke the team for his senior year, and he should have. It would have been great for him to meet new people, even though he wasn't good (he would get better). This is literally all I have bene thinking of......I feel guilty for being on the team. Hwo do I get over this feeling?

These are some I had in mind: Wison K FOUR FX Head Liquidmetal 8 Head Liquidmetal 4 Head Metallix 4 Wilson K Court Head Ti S1 Head Microgel Raptor OS Which would be the best? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much! I also have no way to demo rackets, there's no clubs around me By the way I'm a male

Resolved Question: Several questions about tennis rackets and equipment?

I am new to tennis and I am planning to join my high school tennis team next year. The coach told me to get a tennis racket and to start practicing. I was wondering as a beginner is it ok to get a cheap $20-$40 one at walmart? Should I invest in a more expensive one? Also what other equipment will I need? Anything about tennis equipment you can tell me will be helpful.

Resolved Question: What tennis racket is the best for me?

Hi, I play tennis for my high school team and I've been using a cheap Wilson racket for 2 years, so I'm in need of a new one. I would need it to be an oversize head size, and good for beginners. I would also like it to feel very comfortable and natural when using it, but it should have a good amount of power as well. I have a tendency to stop short when I hit the ball and not follow through, so I would like a racket that could help me fix that. I was thinking the Head Liquidmetal 8. Would that be good? Any other suggestions?

Resolved Question: redoing me home gym? suggestions?

we have a "weight room" in our basement, but its pretty much an extra bedroom that is full of junk and out weight bench. My dad's birthday is in a week so we were gunna redo it. We have an aliptical upstairs that we would move down there. we would also keep the tennis rackets, hand weights, excercise hupe, and sit up thing down there. I was planning on repainting, moving a tv down there, reorganizing, moving the machines and cleaning the carpet. what else can i do that doesnt involve getting new machines? thats cheap? I was thinking a personalized gym vinyl decal? if you find a cheap one that'd be great. so, suggestions? tlc ideas? how should i paint? decorate? also theres one window. he's a big triathlete, if that helps with decor.

Resolved Question: Have you ever encountered a solder job so bad (needs help with resistor)?

I have this bug zapper in the shape of a tennis racket and I was going to modify the circuit for my science fair project (can't say what it is but its related to EMP devices). I opened up this tennis racket bug zapper and the circuit board is what u might see in some 80's electronics (sorta strange but its cheaper and easier to work on) but who ever soldered had decent joints and such but there was solder on the actual insulation on the capacitors and resistors and such. I just decided not to mess with it and de-soldered the wires that were to the metal net and soldered on a coil. I go to use my newly modified circuit and a resistor goes up in sparks. I'm not too familiar with codings on resistors but i can tell u its a light blue resistor with bands going gold, brownish red, purple then brown. What one is this and where can i buy it?

Resolved Question: Was I ripped off? (Tennis racket)?

I bought a tennis racket a while ago from Sport Chek. It seemed good and cost me $140. I tried it out once and found it's a powerful racket. I was at Sport Chek yesterday browsing around everything and saw the rackets there. I noticed many of the cheap ones looked similar to mine. All the expensive ones had no strings though (I was gonna buy one with no strings and get them to put them in, but the guy who worked there advised the one I bought). I was just wondering, do the good, expensive ones also come with strings in it? Or just the cheap ones? How can I tell if mine was good? It's a Wilson racket, I can't tell if it was worth it or not. I don't know anything about rackets!!! Help!!! It says "K Factor" on the side if that makes any difference. Racquet, not racket.

Resolved Question: What is the difference between low & high priced Tennis Rackets?

The tennis racquet i settled on costs $89, yet there are other stores that sell racquets for like $20.. Whats the difference? Am i just paying for a brand name, or actual quality? (im a beginner if that means anything. I haven't started playing yet. Im getting all of my equipment on Friday..) Here's my racket. http://www.modells.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3801613&clickid=cart Here's an example of the cheaper ones. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SP100A2986S64548548P?prdNo=9

Resolved Question: Tennis Racket Questions?

So here is the deal, I first started playing tennis with a wilson hammer head, this was many many years ago. For the past 4ish years I've been using my dad's old ncode6. Well I have a lot of power and very little control and my coach advised me to try getting a new racket, preferably something smaller. (The Ncode6 has about 112inch racket head) and hopefully 18x20 strings, but that shouldnt matter too much. Anyways I was thinking of getting one of the following rackets: -Babolat Aeros Storm Tour -Prince EXO3 Black -Dunlop Aerogel 4D 300 -Babolat Pure Storm -Prince Ozone Pro Tour If you have any other racket suggestions that go along with rackets like these feel free to leave a response on what you used. My only other question (and you dont have to answer this) is how to convince my dad to let me get a new racket. I've shown him the difference between the prince ozone and my current racket but he doesnt seem to care, insisting I get another cheap hammer head or something lol. I'm a junior in high school, and I usually play around the upper JV and Lower Varsity area (my coach is constantly moving us around a few spots here and there) and I plan on playing in college. Thanks for the help!
